Baby Tate is Born!

Thursday, September 9, 2010 at 11:38am. 4lbs - 13.6oz - 18 1/4 inches =
pure perfection :)

TATE ALLAN LIPPINCOTT

So after about 10minutes and pushes I gave birth to a screaming baby boy! He sure did not act like he was 8 weeks early when he came out the nurses said. Even a nurse on video was asking Tate if he knows he was 8 weeks early! Hearing him cry was the best feeling ever because going into labor out of no where and 8 weeks early sure is scary! I had my mother and Logan in the room to experience this amazing miracle! Right after he came out Daddy cut the umbullical cord before they took him over to the heat bed to make sure he was okay and getting enough oxygen. He was rated at a 9 for the APGAR test - 10 is perfect :)

After that, they brought him over to me with an oxygen mask to let me hold him for a minute before he was off to the NICU to get assessed. That minute was the most amazing minute ever. Having my baby boy in my arms assured me that he was going to be okay and although he came 52 days early, he was healthy.

Off to tne NICU Tate went to get situated in his new home for the next 37 days. Daddy went with him to make sure everything went okay and watch him to get hooked up to his tubes :( .

I had to wait about an hour before they would let me go and see him - felt like forever having to wait to go be with my son. Although I was not able to hold him it still felt great just being in his room right next to his side. No one will ever understand unless they have a premie and/or they are in the NICU with their baby. Grandpa and Grandma Christian made the journey over to see Tate with us too.

That night we got to help give Tate his 1st sponge bath. I was a little nervous since he was only like 8 hours old so daddy jumped right in :) Tate was put on a bath schedule of Sun/Tue/Thur.

I didn't get much sleep during the day or night - too many emotions going through my body. We had a lot of visitors the first day: Grandpa Al, Grandma Janell, Grandma Colleen, Grandpa Shaun & Carrie, Lori, Laurel, Trent, Lindsy, Brett, Easton, Ashley S, Gina, Jessica, Great Grandma Lois, Teresa, Kevin, Shelley, Todd, Julie, & Kristina. (Other visits: Ross, Nicholette, Ashley O, Amy, Shelly Colvin, Shelly Cory, Crystal, Denise, Bonnie, Zach, Dawn, Great Grandma Doris, Reggie, Lisa, Gail Rotich, Michelle Kruger, Michelle Harrison, Great Grandpa Harlan, Great Grandma Patty, Cristen, Sandy, Bill, Charlie, Laurel Bleil, Angie, Kris).

The Story Leading Up To The Birth Of Tate : 09.09.2010

Thursday, September 9, 2010: One of the greatest days of our life!
So the day started about 5:30am when I woke up to Logan leaving for work so I decided to get up and eat breakfast. At that point I thought I had wet myself (you lose some control when pregnant, usually towards the end). So I thought nothing of it and after eating breakfast decided to just lay on the couch for a bit. I woke up about 6:45am and went to the bathroom to get ready and again I lost some control and wet myself again. So I was feeling fine but called Logan to see if he thought I should call the doctor. Well I packed a towel and my urine sample in the car that I needed to go drop off. When I go to the Elkhart exit I felt something wet and knew it was not from me so I pulled off and called my friend Shelly Cory. She told me to take the sample to the hospital and they could test it and then at that time just get checked to see if it was urine or my water.

I got to the hospital about 8am and the minute I got out of my car my water broke completely and I knew I needed to get checked out. About 8:30am the doctor came to check me and I was 100% efaced and dilated to a 3. There was no stopping my labor they said because I was too far along - 32 weeks and 5 days - due date : October 31st. So I called Logan who was at work about 1 1/2 hours away and my parents. I got into room 611 about 9:45am - my parents arrived about 10am with my bags - Logan arrived about 10:15am. By that time I was starting to have contractions and they were starting to get more and more intense. There were a lot of women in for delivery that day so I was put on a waiting list for an epidural...lets just say you better hope you never have to be on a waiting list. I got my epidural about 11:10am - was checked when it was done and was at an 8 - too far along for the epidural to do anything! $1000 wasted :) I was then checked again a few minutes later and was at a 10 and ready to push. The contractions were so powerful - nothing at all what I thought they would be, but also didn't think I would feel much either!! Started pushing at 11:28am. About 5 contractions later I gave birth to Tate Allan Lippincott - 11:38am - 4lbs 13.6oz and 18 1/4 long. I have to say I delivered my precious baby boy 99% natural - I might have had 1% of medicine in - very proud of myself.

Crazy 2010 - brief preview of some highlights!

2010 has been a very busy but amazing year!

Feb 19: took a pregnancy test while out in Colorado skiing and received a result of "pregnant" - although we were not preventing we did not expect for it to happen so quickly! Ask Logan...I told him it would take 6-12 months...oops, I guess it only took 2 :)

March 22: My 27th birthday...The day my favorite uncle passed away. Uncle Dan is the greatest uncle ever! I miss you so much! Luckily I got to spend time with him the day before with church & lunch!

April 24: I went from Alesha Christian to Alesha Lippincott at 4:30pm at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City. I have to say the day/wedding was perfect! Everything went smooth, great parents, wonderful wedding party, tons of guests, lots of love between best friends becoming one! Then came the reception of a lifetime at Hickory's Hall - even Logan wants a repeat! Great family & friends with lots of music/beer/dancing! We are living proof you don't need to spend "tons" of money to have the most amazing wedding ever!!!!

April 26: we went on our honeymoon to Cancun, Mexico. Stayed at The Dreams Resort and had a wonderful time just the two of us! Its so great knowing I will get to wake up with my best friend for the rest of our lives :)

May 4: our nephew, Easton Leroy Baker, was born. 8lbs 12oz.

May 22: 17 weeks : My cousin Trent married Crystal Hanson in the same church we got married in!

The next few months were spent with me growing, buying things for our baby boy, getting his room ready, and finishing house projects!

July 10: 24 Weeks : We were a part of Logan's sister Ashley & Austen's wedding in Pella. She became Ashely Schueler!

Aug 1:  Week 27 : Scary day! Felt contractions for the 1st time!

We had our nephew Easton overnight and I felt great. I held him, played with him, went on a walk with him and had lots of fun. The morning of the 1st his mommy came and got him and then we went to get groceries. Still feeling good at this point. We got Chinese for lunch and came home to eat it. While eating Logan's sister Ashley and her husband Austen came over to visit. It was at that point my stomach started to really hurt. I just tried to cover it and kept changing my sitting position. After they left I still did not say anything...I went outside to lay out and could not lay down because it kept hurting. As I tried to get up off the ground I about fell over from pain. So I came inside and told Logan and just laid on the couch to see if I would feel better. Still was having pain about 4pm so I called the on-call doctor. She advised to lay down, relax, and drink water. If I still had pain in an hour she advised I could come in but did not think it was contractions. So an hour passed and I decided I should go get checked. While getting ready I had a pain so bad it almost took me to my knees. I got to the hospital and my friend Shelly Cory was working and stayed past her shift to take care of me. They hooked me up to a machine, Tate's heartbeat sounded great, but my blood pressure was a little high - stress they thought. The machine also measured contractions and I was having pre-labor contractions every 5-8 minutes! I was not dialated or thinning so they gave me a shot to stop the contractions and about 10pm I was able to go home. They advised I should be fine and that I could continue with my normal activities.

August 14th I traveled to eastern Iowa for my cousin Drew's wedding. Then on Aug 28 we had our Child Birth class and also went to Atlantic for Grandpa and Grandma Lippincott's 50th Anniversary party. The class didn't really teach us anything about having a baby that we didn't know, but was still glad we went. I was still feeling good and was loving being pregnant!

Sept 5: Week 32: Date night : I spent the entire day cleaning our house in detail and Logan worked. Since we didn't have to work Labor Day I planned a date night because soon we knew we would not get those! We went to Bass Pro Shop for the 1st time ever and then to Chip's for dinner. That was followed by going to my parents to watch Big Brother :)

Sept 6: Week 32: We had maternity pictures taken by Shelly Colvin, http://www.shellycolvinphotograpy.com/. Check her out! We had a great time and got some great pics :)

Sept 7:  Doctors appt didn't go too well....so far I have felt great and all my check-ups have been great. Well today my blood presure was a little high and I gained 6lbs in 2 weeks...yikes! Up until then I had only gained like 10lbs total! Dr Osborn didn't check me just told me I had to do a 24 hour uraine test (Wed morning-Thursday morning). The testing was to see if I was starting to get preeclampsia.

Sept 8: Started my testing - was feeling great like always but had to follow the doctors orders. Went to Quiznos for lunch with work friends. Made chicken tacos for dinner, did some laundry, cuddled and watched tv with Logan. Felt great and fell asleep right away.
